A REDUX™ Wave Spring, available from Lee Spring, is a compact compression spring designed for use in applications where space is limited, occupying just 30-50% of the compressed height of a conventional round wire spring. By using a REDUX Wave Spring the size and weight of the assembly can be reduced by as much as 50%. REDUX Wave Springs are now available in even smaller sizes and the line of REDUX Wave Springs from Lee Spring is now available designed to fit 1/4” and 5/16” hole diameters as well as additional designs in the 1/2”, 9/16” and 5/8” ranges.
As assemblies continue to get smaller, the demand for smaller REDUX Stainless Steel Wave Springs continues to grow. Lee Spring’s REDUX Wave Springs are designed to replace conventional round wire Compression Springs in applications requiring a tight load deflection specification in a space critical environment. REDUX Wave Springs typically occupy a very small area in relation to the amount of work they can perform. Common applications for wave springs include in gear boxes, clutch drives and sprinkler valves.
REDUX Wave Springs are manufactured from a single filament of Type 17-7 Stainless Steel flat wire, formed in continuous precise coils with uniform diameters and waves. They are offered in diameters from .375” (9.52 mm) to 1.25” (31.75 mm) in order to meet load requirements from 4 lbs (1.8 kg) to 30 lbs (13.6 kg). Careful material selection is required to suit the operating environment, for example operations at high or very low temperatures, or involving and corrosive elements.
